Motorola Droid 4 Price Drops to $100 on Amazon

The Motorola Droid 4 smartphone is retailing for less than $100 on Amazon.com during a limited time sale.

The device is currently available through Verizon wireless with a new two-year contract. The starting price for the Motorola Droid 4 was $199, but it will be available for $99 through Amazon for a limited time. This is a 50 percent discount for Verizon customers who are currently eligible for an upgrade.

Motorola unveiled the device at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last month alongside the Droid Razr Maxx.

The Droid 4 includes a full QWERTY keyboard and is the second of its kind to have access to Verizon's 4G LTE network joining the Samsung Stratosphere.

PCMag had a hands-on experience with the handset at CES and stated that the Droid 4's frame is surprisingly thin even though it includes a keyboard. It measures at 5.0 by 2.7 by 0.5 inches and weighs 6.3 ounces. The site describes it to feel even lighter than that.

Its 4-inch qHD (540-by-960 pixel) display "looked great," according to the site and the smartphone was really comfortable to hold with the keyboard open or closed. Other specs on the Droid 4 include a rear 8-megapixel camera a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, and 16GB of internal storage with a microSD slot to expand the memory up to 32GB. It is also one of Verizon's top-of-the-line 4G LTE smartphones.

PCMag was most impressed with the keyboard on the 4. They describe the keys as "chiclet-style" that mimic those on a laptop. It is also a business ready device coming with a government grade encryption for email, calendars, and contact.

The Droid 4 comes with Android 2.3.5, Gingerbread pre-loaded and there should be an Ice Cream Sandwich update available for it in the near future.
