Motorola Line of Smartphones to Get Android L Soon
Google has finally unveiled its latest mobile operating system, the Android Lollipop or Android L for short. Accompanying the release of the operating system were the first two devices to run the said OS, the Motorola-made Nexus 6 smartphone and the HTC-made Nexus 9 tablet.
What wasn't announced during the Android L unveiling, however, were the list of devices which could potentially run the new OS.
Since Motorola made the Nexus 6 which is running on Android L, it has made plans to deliver the OS to its other smartphone lines as well, including the older flagship phones.
The following phones made by Motorola can run the upcoming Android Lollipop OS: The first and second generation Motorola X, the Moto E, the 4G LTE variant of the Moto G, the first and second generation of the Moto G, the Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx, and the Droid Mini.
The list could expand over the coming weeks but users of much older Motorola smartphones may want to check their hardware to see if their device is compatible with Android L. Also, Motorola won't be the only one to roll out the Android L update on their smartphone lines as other Android-run smartphones may also get the update.
Bottom-line, it's safe to assume that the latest Android-run smartphones will be getting the update when it rolls out for the manufacturers but it depends on what make the phone is in. Samsung for one is not quick with their updates as they are still updating their Galaxy lines with the Android 4.4.4 Kitkat.
HTC announced that it will be shipping out the Android L update to the One M8 or M7 when the final version of the OS arrives. LG and Sony users on the other hand might not hear from the respective companies for a while.
