Motorola Moto G 2nd Generation Review: Summary of Specs and Features
Those who are searching for a new smartphone but have a limited budget may want to consider giving the 2nd Gen Motorola Moto G a closer look. Like its predecessor, it's one of the best phones that can be bought for less than $200. And while the device's features can't compete with premium smartphones, it still is a good buy for anyone on a budget.
Design:
The second generation Moto G looks almost the same as the first model. It has a curved back, and defined but rounded edges. The phone is encased in matte plastic and measures 5.57 x 2.78 x 0.45 inches, so it's larger but thinner than its predecessor. It weighs 5.25 ounces and comes in black or white, though the back of the phone can be swapped out if one wants a more colorful device.
Features:
The display measures 5 inches, which is half an inch larger than last year's model. The screen has a resolution of 720 pixels with 294ppi and is covered with a layer of Gorilla Glass 3. Though images are sharp, they are not crystal clear. Internal memory is only 8GB, but it can be expanded through a microSD card.
The phone has a quad core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 1 GB of RAM and runs on Android KitKat.
Perhaps one of the Moto G's faults is its low battery life. It has the same 2070mAh battery as the first gen version, but compared to last year's model, the device's battery drains faster due to its larger screen.
The Moto G's main camera has been upgraded to 8MP and is faster than the 2013 version. Colors are accurate and rich and images are generally better compared to those taken with the 1st gen phone. The device also has a 2MP front-facing shooter which takes clear selfies.
Price:
The Motorola Moto G 2nd Gen costs $179.99.
