'Mr. Robot' Season 2 News: Successful Night at the Golden Globes
The hit series "Mr. Robot" had a successful night at the Golden Globes.
It was reported that even with just one season aired, "Mr. Robot" was able to win the Best Series during this year's Golden Globe awards.
The series stars Rami Malek, Christian Slater, Carly Chaikin, Portia Doubleday, and Martin Wallstrom. It centers around a tech genius who used his hacker skills to take down one of the biggest corporations. The series has been a hit, especially with the surprising twist ending.
The creator of the series is Sam Esmail, who Slater called a "creative and brilliant genius." It was reported that Esmail was shocked to have received a Golden Globe since it was his first involvement in a series.
According to Variety, the president of the USA Network Chris McCumber recently commended Esmail for the series. He stated, "We are really happy that people are seeing the same things that we see in a show that we love so much. The competition is so intense — there's so many great shows deserving recognition and of people's time. It's very hard to break through. Our philosophy is now that you have to have an 'always-on' strategy from the moment the season ends. You have to find voices that are relevant and great storytellers and have such a specific vision. In Sam we have found that."
Actors from the series were also in line for other awards for the Golden Globes. Christian Slater was able to take home a Golden Globe for his supporting role in the series. In addition, Rami Malek was also up for Best TV Drama Actor. However, with John Hamm, Bob Odenkirk, Liev Schreiber, and Wagner Moura as his competition, he was unable to take home a trophy that night.
There has yet to be any official release date announced for the second season of "Mr. Robot," but it is expected to air this summer.
