NBA 2013 Playoffs News: Tony Parker Injured?

The San Antonio Spurs can't be completely happy despite a huge 113-77 win over the Miami Heat in last night's game 3 of the NBA Finals. The Spurs now lead the series 2-1, but it has also been reported today that Tony Parker injured his hamstring in last night's home game, and will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the injury.

It is not clear if he will be able to play in game four on Thursday or any of the remainder of the season, reported NBA.com.

Parker did not play for much of the second half of last night's game due to the injury to his right hamstring.

"I felt something in my hamstring," Parker said after the game. "Hopefully it's nothing big, just cramping or got tight on me. It was a weird feeling. I just went to make sure with the doctor I was OK. Then I played like two minutes in the fourth quarter. We were up big, didn't want to take any risks. We'll see tomorrow."

Parker remains hopeful that he will be back in action Thursday and for the rest of the series.

"We'll get an MRI [Wednesday], and hopefully it's nothing big and it's just a hamstring that got tight on me," the Spurs point guard said.

Parker played just 27 minutes during the Spurs win on Tuesday. In those 27 minutes he scored six points, dished out eight assists, and grabbed two rebounds, ESPN reported.

If Parker cannot return for game four of the finals, the Spurs will probably play Cory Joseph, predicted Yahoo! Sports. The backup point guard has been in the league for two seasons. He averages 7.3 points per game, and 3.1 assists per game. He saw playing time in game three due to Parker's injury, and Joseph earned two points and four assists during that game.
