NBA News 2015: DeMarcus Cousins Among Top Candidates For Trade, Coach Gregg Popovich Comments On Rondo's Anti-Gay Slurs

Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins is believed to be a top trade candidate, as a number of teams have already expressed interest.

In a report by Sheridan Hoops, Cousins is said to be in the sights of teams such as the Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, and Chicago Bulls. Celtics general manager Danny Ainge is believed to be interested in Cousins for a while now, especially with the expiry of big man David Lee's contract.

The report adds that Miami Heat president Pat Riley is also looking for a suitable big man for his team, with the possible departure of one of his troubled players, Hassan Whiteside.

The Bulls, on the other hand, may have a loaded presence in the paint but is looking for a more efficient replacement for first round pick Bobby Portis, who was described in the report as "stuck behind a crowded frontcourt."

Per game, Cousins is currently averaging 25.2 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.2 blocks within 33.3 minutes of play, according to ESPN.

Meanwhile, San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich gave his reaction on Sacramento Kings point guard Rajon Rondo's anti-gay slurs on referee Bill Kennedy. Rondo was involved in a verbal tirade with Kennedy during the Kings' December 3rd game in Mexico.

After the Boston Celtics mainstay was ejected, he reportedly hurled anti-homosexual slurs against the game official. Kennedy later came out of the closet as a "proud gay man".

But while Popovich described Rondo's actions as "disgusting", he says he was not surprised about the incident since such moments can be "seen all the time".

"As far as anybody's sexual orientation, it's nobody's business," Popovich said in a report by the San Antonio Express News. "It just shows ignorance. To act in a derogatory way toward anybody in the LBGT community doesn't make sense. But surprised? Of course not."
