NBA News 2015: Indiana's Paul George Fined For Criticizing Game Officials; Warriors' Fans Make Shirts Responding To Bucks' Fans' Mockery
Indiana Pacers forward Paul George is currently facing a fine worth $35,000 after being involved in a verbal tirade with a game official.
In a report by ESPN, the 25-year-old professional basketball player was fined for "public criticism of officiating and using profanity in a live television interview." The said incident happened during the Pacers' game against the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night. Indiana ended up winning the said game with a score of 104-97.
The report adds that during the post-game interview with FOX Sports Indiana, George went on a rant where, he lambasted the game officials for being "terrible."
"The way this game was going and how they [were] calling it, we had to play," George said in the post-game interview. "It's frustrating, but hopefully the league does a better job of looking at s--- like this."
George went on to add that the said problem on officiating has been going on for a long time, noting that the opponents that he is usually matched up with pick up lesser fouls than he does.
Most recently, another NBA player was put in hot water for comments made against an official. Sacramento Kings point guard Rajon Rondo uttered homophobic slurs against referee Bill Kennedy. After Rondo's statements went public, Kennedy went on to come out of the closet.
Meanwhile, fans of the Golden State Warriors responded to Milwaukee Bucks fans who recently made mockery shirts after their team ended the defending champions' 24-game winning streak during their December 12th game at the Bradley Center.
The Bucks won with a score of 108-95.
In a report by NBA.com, Milwaukee fans put out a "24-1" T-Shirt, as a statement of their team's breaking of the Warriors' streak. Golden State fans did respond by wearing a "10-18" shirt ahead of their Friday rematch.
The Warriors ended up winning at home, with a tally of 121-112.
For Milwaukee Bucks coach Jason Kidd, what the Warriors' fans did was actually a compliment to their team.
"They took the time out to waste money on the T-shirt, which is cool," Kidd said.
