NBA Trade News 2016: Pelicans Looking To Release Tyreke Evans; Celtics President Danny Ainge Eager To Make Roster Changes
The New Orleans Pelicans are reportedly looking to release guard Tyreke Evans before the February 18th trade deadline.
In a report by Oleh Kosel for SBNation.com's The Bird Writes, the Pelicans team management are "listening to offers" from other teams who may be interested in signing the 26-year-old Evans.
"Evans' situation could be viewed similarly to Ryan Anderson where the interest is arising from other organizations. On multiple occasions, this franchise has downplayed all Anderson rumors stating they still view him as an important future piece," an excerpt of the report reads.
The report adds that for his part, Evans has been working his way to improving, despite some ongoing issues with his troubled right knee, which he had undergone surgery on last October.
For the current season alone, Evans has played in 25 games, and is averaging 15.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 1.3 steals, through 30.6 minutes of playing time per game. The Pelicans currently hold a win-loss record of 18-30, and are seated at the number 12 spot of the Western Conference standings.
Unfortunately, he wasn't able to play during tonight's game against the San Antonio Spurs because of the ongoing problem with his right knee. The Spurs won over the Pelicans with a score of 110-97.
Meanwhile, former Boston Celtics guard and current President for Basketball Operations Danny Ainge is eager to make some roster changes for his team.
In a report by Jeff Clark for the Celtics Blog, Ainge and Boston have been "quietly aggressive" in their efforts to make these changes. Since December, the team from Beantown expressed interest in signing two notable big men, namely DeMarcus Cousins of the Sacramento Kings and Kevin Love of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
However, the report did note that both Sacramento and Cleveland are not ready to offer their respective players any time soon.
The Boston Celtics currently hold the number four spot at the Eastern Conference Standings with a win-loss slate of 29-22. They are scheduled to face Cleveland next on Friday, Feb. 5.
