Next Generation Samsung Galaxy A5 Appears On GFXBench With Octa-Core Exynos 7 Processor

Is the Samsung Galaxy A5 getting a refresh soon? If reports are true, this may well be the case. A benchmarking site, GFXBench, is reported to have benchmarked a new device that has model number SM-A510F, which is thought to be the successor of the Samsung Galaxy A5. According to a report in Gadgets 360, this is the second time a leak about the new device has come out. The first one was when it reported passed Bluetooth SIG certification in previous weeks.

The GFXBench listing was first seen in a German website and reported in GSM Arena, which cited the following specifications of the upcoming phones: an octa-core Exynos 7 chipset, which runs at 1.6 GHz paired with an ARM Mali-T720 GPU and 2 GB of RAM.

Display-wise, its 5.2-inch screen will have Full HD resolution (1,080 x 1,920 pixels) and it will run on the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS. In terms of on board storage, the device will only offer 16 GB. The listing did not indicate whether microSD support will be available to expand the phone's storage.

The device is rumored to have a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash, and a 4.7-megapixel front-facing camera. Videos in full HD can be captured using either cameras, and the connectivity options include Bluetooth, NFC, and Wi-Fi. Other features listed include an accelerometer, digital compass, GPS, ambient light sensor and proximity sensor.

Aside from the rumored A5 successor, a smaller smartphone was also listed in GFXBench, according to another report in Tech Times. The SM-A310 is said to be the successor of the Galaxy A3 and its specs include a 4.7-inch screen with a 720 x 1,280 pixels resolution. Under the hood, it will have a quad-core Exynos 7580 processor running at 1.5 GHz and 1.5 GB RAM. Its cameras include a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It comes pre-installed with Android 5.1.1.

A third device is also included in the listing, which is rumored to be the next generation version of the Galaxy A7. This device is touted to have an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset running at 1.5 GHz, paired with 3 GB of RAM and an Adreno 405 GPU.

With no official announcement yet from Samsung, it is not known when these handsets will be released in the market.
