NFL News and Updates 2016: Will New York Jets Avenge Week 17 Loss to Buffalo Bills? Match Predictions, TV Schedule and Streaming Details

The New York Jets and the Buffalo Bills have a lot of history together. Their most recent encounter last season left a bad gash on the Jets' pursuit of supremacy and would surely spur the latter to get revenge on the Bills.

The Jets lost to the Bills on Week 17 last year and it was not just any loss - the close battle ended with the Jets missing the playoffs.

On Week 2 of the 2016 NFL season, the Jets will face the Bills again on their home floor, in a must-win affair for both teams.

Vengeance

The loss was a year ago, but clearly, the Jets have not moved on. Receiver Eric Decker continues to dwell on the last-second play that cost them the game. With 10:48 left in the fourth, what could have been a flight to the end zone got messed up for the Jets, leading into an interception that eventually won the Bills a 22-17 game.

However, the Jets' play throughout the loss was horrendous. Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick only connected for 19 of 35 passes the entire game and the offense never found a rhythm.

However, the odds are looking to lean toward the Jets this time around. They turned in an impressive game on Week 1, albeit losing by one point to the Cincinnati Bengals. Their defensive front shows a lot of promise, led by Leonard Williams who had 2.5 sacks and five quarterback hits.

Week 17 repeat?

The Jets topped the Bills on the ESPN Week 2 Power Rankings and they certainly deserve the slip from the 16th spot to No. 27. The Bills' offense got pummeled against the Baltimore Ravens.

It was not a blowout game, either. The Ravens only scored 13 to the Bills' 7. And the latter team said so themselves: the game could have been won by 14 points, but their offense did not really step up to the plate.

The Bills only ran 160 yards and 11 first downs, two of their worst numbers for over a decade. Their deepest penetration was 26, which could have ended in a game-tying 49-yard field goal. Coach Rex Ryan blames his offense as much as the good defense the Ravens threw at them.

However, they went 2-0 against the Jets last season and may repeat it on Thursday. Sammy Watkins caught 11 passes on 136 yards his last game against the Jets—and could do it again, so long as he overcomes his foot injury come game time.

The game kicks off at 8:25 p.m. EDT on CBS and the NFL Network, or online through the NFL Game Pass.
