The actress played coy when asked about her wedding plans, but she teased that she "sort of" started thinking about the details.

According to Us Weekly, Somerhalder proposed to Reed just a week ago. Their courtship started when they began dating shortly after her split from ex-husband Paul McDonald in May. The former couple recently finalized their divorce.

Earlier this month, In Touch magazine claimed that the actor popped the question to the 26-year-old during the holidays.

"It happened over the holidays," a source told the publication.

Before getting engaged, Reed and Somerhalder already started expanding their family by adopting animals together. Reed joked that having a lot of pets is good practice for having kids in the future.

"I think animals are great for that," she laughingly told E! News. "You certainly learn how to clean up after yourself and pick up a lot of poop."

As for their plans for Valentine's Day, Reed said, "I'm always working on Valentine's Day. It's so far away. That's the life of an actor right? You can never plan a week in advance. You never know what you're gonna be doing. So I don't know, I hope it's a date day and not a work day, but if it is, it is."

Of her fiance' Reed said, "He's quite possibly the most amazing man that's ever walked the planet, it's crazy. I'm so lucky, I love him."
