Nokia, Android, Could Work Together to Bring Back Finnish Manufacturer's Glory Days
Last year, everyone thought we have seen the last of Nokia as its mobile division was swallowed whole by Microsoft in an attempt to improve its Windows Phone lineup. The Redmond giant soon rebranded new Nokia Lumia phones into Microsoft Lumia, eradicating the last traces of the once-strong mobile device maker.
However, the introduction of the Nokia N1 Tablet to more markets outside of China has sparked some hope that the Finnish company would rise from the ashes and finally take Android's side.
According to a report by Android Authority, there may be rumors that Nokia would soon manufacturer smartphones beginning in 2016, but the mobile company itself stated that it would not build phones next year.
However, the report indicated that Nokia may be licensing its brand name, similar to what it did with the Nokia N1 Tablet, which was developed, manufactured, marketed, and sold by Chinese manufacturer Foxconn.
That avenue could be the most logical one for Nokia if it wants to make a comeback in the smartphone industry in the next couple of years. In the report, the Nokia N1 Tablet's impressive sales performance in China only shows that people still buy Nokia products.
We'll see if there will be any developments or new Nokia-labeled devices by the end of the year.
