Nokia Lumia: The Ultimate Camera Phone
All eyes have been on the new releases by Apple, Google, and Samsung. Nokia on the other hand seems to have quieted down with their flagship Lumia line and in hindsight, there isn't much to go with the the Nokia smartphone line. Still, it is worth noting that one of the smartphones, the Lumia 1020, has somethine to boast about.
While the Lumia line of phones haven't exactly been the most stellar among the market of smartphones, they are certainly one of the most rugged and durable among the smartphone lines. Following Nokia's long history of sturdy built phones like the Nokia 3310, the property carrying over to the smartphone era isn't at all suprising.
Also, aside from the phone's outstanding durability is its amazing camera. While most smartphone cameras are benchmarked at 16-megapixels to 21-megapixels, the Nokia Lumia 1020's rear camera is a staggering 41-megapixel snapper, probably the only camera of its class in the smartphone market. The camera's high megapixel count is thanks to the Carl Zeiss optics fitted on it.
Definitely, the phone is more than a year old, being released July of 2013 but so far, none of the smartphone manufacturers have been able to top the 41-megapixel count of the Lumia 1020. The only downside to the camera is its large assembly, contributing to the phone's large bulge at the back.
Among other troublesome features of the phone is the slow Nokia Pro Cam app and the limiting Windows 8.1 mobile OS. The price tag is not at all expensive nowadays, considering that most other smartphone lines are invariably more expensive than the $400+ Lumia 1020.
Spec-wise, the phone isn't all that bad especially being only a year old. It features a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8960 chipset with a dual-core 1.5GHz processor and an Adreno 225 GPU. It only comes in a 32GB storage variant and 2GB of RAM with no microSD card support. Screen size is considered small with today's smartphone's standards, only at 4.5-inches with a screen resolution of 1280 x 768.
For people who like to take photos with their smartphones without having a second opinion regarding specs and operating systems, the Nokia Lumia 1020 is definitely a must-get.
