He has been charged with murder and carrying a firearm without a license in relation to the death of 27 year old Odin Lloyd.

The victim in the incident was found dead in a field Monday, June 17 less than half a mile away from where Hernandez resides.

Authorities now believe they have enough evidence to show that Hernandez shot Lloyd twice. He then allegedly stood over Lloyd's body and shot him a further three times.

Investigators have recovered .45 caliber shell casings from the scene of the killing, although at the moment they have not been able to locate the murder weapon.

Prosecutors believe that on June 17 Hernandez and two other men picked up Lloyd in Dorchester at about 2.30 a.m. in their rented Nissan Altima.

They described that Hernandez was allegedly upset with Lloyd for speaking to someone at Club Rumor in Boston earlier in the weekend. He allegedly said that he could not trust Lloyd, according to investigators.

Authorities say that Lloyd texted his sister through their journey in the car, with the final text being sent at about 3.23 a.m. It is believed that their car is seen on a surveillance video going down a gravel road that leads to a field in an industrial park near Hernandez's home.

Overnight workers have told investigators that they heard gunshots at about that time, and then surveillance footage shows the same Nissan car leaving the scene at about 3.27 a.m.

Lloyd's body was discovered by a jogger several hours later.

Hernandez has pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on Wednesday, but the judge ordered him to be held without bail.
