'Once Upon a Time' Season 5 Return Date & Spoilers: Wes Brown Cast as Gaston; New Baby Coming?

The return of American fairy tale dramatic series "Once Upon a Time" season 5 is taking a little longer than most TV series but that doesn't stop fans from getting some details on what's happening next after the events of the winter finale episode.

For starters, a character is returning to create a twist to the "Beauty and the Beast" storyline. According to Variety, Gaston, who is Belle's (Emilie de Ravin) dicey and undesired suitor, is going to appear in one of the upcoming episodes. It's not the first time though that the character has been featured in the complicated tale.

As noted in Entertainment Weekly, Gaston first made a short appearance in the first season. The role was then played by Sage Brocklebank. Unfortunately, Brocklebank will not be returning as the role has been cast again by ABC. The new Gaston will be played by "True Blood" alum Wes Brown.

The source also revealed that viewers will be brought back in time as Gaston will appear in a flashback episode to tell the story of Belle's time before she met Rumple (Robert Carlyle). In season 1, the chiseled hunter was first known as Belle's fiancé. When Rumplestiltskin took her away from him, he tried to win her back. Regrettably, he ended up transforming into a rose.

It has not been revealed yet in which episode Brown will be appearing as Gaston but it's expected to be during the back-half of the fifth season.

In other news, speculations of a new baby coming to the show has been flying around. In a report by Christian Today, Rumple and Belle may be having a child after the two reunited in the midseason finale. But it's mainly because de Ravin is expecting her first child with writer/director boyfriend, Eric Bilitch.

In a Twitter post in October 2015, the actress revealed the good news to her followers. She's not leaving the show though as the showrunners have confirmed she's still part of the series. This led fans to speculate that her pregnancy will bring a new baby plot twist just like how it was with Ginnifer Goodwin when she got pregnant with her first child.

None of the speculation has been confirmed though and fans will have to wait and see how things will turn out. "Once Upon a Time" season 5B will return on March 6.
