'Outlander' Season 3 News, Spoilers, Updates: Claire and Jaime to Reunite Next Season; Two Major Deaths Expected

Historical time travel series "Outlander" ended its Season 2 run with Claire Randall (Caitriona Baife) promising to return to her true love, Jaime Fraser (Sam Heughan). She found out that the dashing Highland warrior did not die at Culloden. However, the future remains murky for the two star-crossed lovers, as it's unknown when Claire would be able to return to Jaime's arms.

In a Twitter Q & A, "Outlander" executive producer Ronald D. Moore teased that he can tell when exactly Claire could see Jaime again, but refused to dish out on any details. "Outlander" Fans holding out for their reunion in Season 3 can now breathe, at least!

While he didn't give away any details to their reunion, Moore does said definitely" to a fan asking if there will be more love scenes between the two. But as to the rest of the questions related to Season 3, Moore said the cast and crew are still figuring out what to do for Season 3. Scenes in Jamaica have yet to be filmed until 2017, after all, so a lot can still happen in between takes.

What happened in Season 2

"Outlander" Season 2 had been a supercharged season, what with Claire getting pregnant and time paradoxes happening across the storyboard. Claire and Jaime had been largely involved in attempts to subdue the Jacobite rising by diverting King Louis XV's funds from the impostor Charles Stuart (Andrew Gower). Randall (Tobias Menzies) had raped a young boy and was subsequently challenged by Jaime into a duel. However, the combined trauma of the two evils cost Claire her baby.

Before the Battle of Culloden, Jaime convinced Claire to return to her own time to protect their unborn child, while Claire convinced Randall to marry the mother of Alex's baby, securing Frank's future. When she returned, she saw Geillis Duncan (Lotte Verbeek) passing through the standing stones. Jaime was alive after all, prompting Claire to vow to return to him soon.

What to expect from Season 3

According to Moore, "Outlander" Season 3 premiere will not be as "supersized" as the Season 2 finale, which ran to 90 minutes. CSN reported that the majority of Season 3 will zero in on the Battle of Culloden's aftermath, while two major deaths are expected to happen next season.

While there aren't confirmed dates of "Outlander's" return to the small screen, reports speculated that Season 3 will premiere on April 2017, around the same time Seasons 1 and 2 premiered in 2014 and 2016.
