'Outlander' Spoilers: Claire and Frank Have Given Up on Their Marriage

With the separation of Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan), the latter continues to go into a downward spiral, as he battles depression and the strain of war. As for Claire and her current husband, they have given up hope of fixing the relationship.

Since Claire and Jamie separated, she tried to give her marriage to Frank (Tobias Menzies) another shot. However, the twin beds twist pretty much indicates that their marriage is over, at least, romantically. They are still husband and wife and they are still raising their daughter together.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Menzies was asked about what is next for Claire and Frank, now that they have decided to keep separate bends. The actor was also asked if his character, who lost his wife to a man in the 1700's, still hopes for his marriage to be fixed.

"Essentially they've settled into something quite companionable," he answered. "There's a lot of affection and they work well as a team. They're doing a great job raising Brianna." He continued, "But no, a lot of that has burned away and he's seeing other people. And you'll see that explored further on the show."

According to the actor, Frank is well aware that he is with a woman that no longer loves him. And that when he meets someone who reciprocates his love, he will act on it.

Last Sunday on "Outlander," in an episode titled "Surrender," Jamie spent most of his days hidden in the woods near his home. To spare his family from the trouble of having to hide an outlaw, he convinced his sister Jenny (Laura Donnelly) to pretend to betray him.

He forced Jenny to turn him over to the British, thus clearing their family names for good. In addition, she was rewarded for the act with enough money to keep her family fed.

"Outlander" airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on Starz.
