'Persona 5' News: Game Releasing This Summer, Plus Unannounced Titles

Following the news last year that "Persona 5" will definitely be delayed, new reports state that the executive team has finally confirmed the hit game's arrival: summer 2016.

Gematsu translated Atlus CEO Naoto Hiraoka's statement for the latest issue of the Dengeki PlayStation magazine wherein he said, "In the summer, we'll launch the long-awaited Persona 5. Of course, in addition to that we have several unannounced titles."

The news came early last month, and while there has been excitement for the confirmation of the game's release, some fans doubt if the company will stick to its word for a summer release. The disappointment started last year after the developer said the game won't come in 2015.

In an official statement last year, Atlus asked for the consideration of fans regarding the delay. The team admitted that they are aware of the frustrations that fans have started feeling, and though there are a lot of requests to launch the game soon, there are some things that need to be fixed. The developer added that the delay is the only way to ensure that expectations will be met.

It is unclear what other games will be released by the company this year, but Hiraoka said "Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir" will come out first. The chief is confident that this year will bring together a good number of titles that fans will enjoy.

One issue that fans noticed about Hiraoka's statement is the uncertainty of a specific date. "The release date hasn't been decided," he said, giving fans the idea that the developer might find another reason in the long run to delay the game once more.

"Persona 5" puts players in a role-playing game wherein the life of a high school boy and his friends is featured. It is part of the series that became a hit among players not only in Japan but also in the Northern Americas.
