'Pitch Perfect 3' News: Rebel Wilson Revealed the Start of the Film's Production on 'Ellen'
Rebel Wilson, or more popularly known as "Fat Amy," revealed to Ellen DeGeneres that the Barden Bellas will be back for a third installment during her guesting on the latter's talk show. Wilson also stated that the filming for "Pitch Perfect 3" will start next year.
The 35-year-old actress revealed that the production will begin early 2016, and her character, Fat Amy, will be joined by her other A Capella group mates, Beca Mitchell (Anna Kendrick) and Chloe Beale (Brittany Snow). According to ET Online, Kendrick and Snow already confirmed their comeback in "Pitch Perfect 3" earlier this year.
The other "Pitch Perfect 2" stars, Hailee Steinfeld (Emily), Alexis Knapp (Stacie), Hana Mae Lee (Lilly), Ester Dean (Cynthia-Rose), Chrissie Fit (Flo), Kelley Jakle (Jessica), and Shelley Regner (Ashley), are not confirmed yet if they'll be reprising their roles in the upcoming film.
According to Realty Today, one of the rumored plots of the movie will have Steinfeld's character, Emily, leading the new ladies of Barden Bellas, since most of its original members have already graduated. However, no plot details have been confirmed yet for the movie, and fans can't wait what will happen next with the girls of Barden Bellas.
Variety also confirmed that actress Elizabeth Banks will be back as the franchise's director, and the movie will be distributed by Universal and Gold Circle Entertainment. Paul Brooks and Alex Handelman will also be producing the film along with Banks. Kay Cannon will be the one to write the script.
Wilson also uploaded on what appears to be a "poster" of the new "Pitch Perfect" movie, with her and Kendrick in it, a few weeks ago, and captioned it, "Save the date pitches x." According to her Instagram post, "Pitch Perfect 3" will have a release date of Aug. 4, 2017.
