'PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' Latest News: Game's Official Xbox One Release Date Announced
With Microsoft officially becoming the battle royale game's first publisher during the early stages of the year, "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG)" has been promised to come to the Xbox One sometime this year. After a brief period of waiting, it looks like that promise is finally going to be fulfilled.
During the Paris Games Week, it has been revealed that the successful "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" game has an official Xbox One release date. According to developer, Bluehole, the game will be launched on the console this coming Dec. 12 for $30.
Furthermore, the developer had revealed that they have also been working on bringing "PUBG" to the PC by the end of the year. As for a PlayStation release, no word has come if it as of writing. Chang Han Kim, the vice president of Bluehole and the executive producer of the game, explains that while their team is working on both the Xbox One and PC formats at the same time, the two will also have their differences.
"We're approaching development on Xbox One with the same community-driven focus that we've taken with the game on PC," Kim shared on Xbox Wire. "As a result, the ultimate battle royale experience that fans play on Xbox One will be slightly different than what players know today on PC," the VP added.
Microsoft has revealed that they will also be releasing three limited edition cosmetic packs as an exclusive content for the "PUBG" on the Xbox One. The price of these exclusive content has not been revealed yet.
"PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" has become a massive success and has sold more than eight million copies worldwide after its beta was made available on Steam last March. Ever since then, the game has overtaken "Dota" as the most played game back in August, and, as of late, it has about one million players.
