'PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' News: FPS Close to Reaching 2 Million Concurrent Users
"PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" ("PUBG") is close to achieving yet another huge milestone.
After reaching 1 million concurrent users on Steam earlier this month, "PUBG" shows no sign of stopping. Reports confirmed on Tuesday that the last-man-standing shooter has reached almost 2 million players. Latest data from Steam (via GameSpot) indicated that "PUBG" already passed 1.96 million peak concurrent users.
"PUBG" debuted on Steam's Early Access in March. Since then, it has exploded in popularity — selling over 13 million copies in the latest count. It is currently available for $30 each, with Bluehole assuring fans that it will not raise its price once the game officially launches.

While it is now available on PC, "PUBG" will soon debut on Xbox One. Microsoft will serve as the game's publisher. There is a possibility that the company will extend its exclusivity deal with Bluehole, though both parties have yet to confirm this. "PUBG" is also slated for a PlayStation 4 release later, but a definitive release date is still unclear.
News of Microsoft's plan to extend its exclusivity period with Bluehole does not come as a surprise, according to Express. It is believed that Xbox One would have exclusive console rights to the game until the middle of 2018 or longer. This means the PlayStation 4 release could be delayed until later next year.
In other related news, "PUBG" was recently hit with more than 15,000 negative reviews in less than one day after a Chinese VPN service ad appeared on the game's lobby. It reportedly stemmed from an old issue Chinese players had with the game's service lag, which forced many to choose servers in other parts of the world for better connectivity.
Developed by Bluehole, "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" is currently available for PC. It's Xbox One version is expected to be released later this year.
