'Pokemon GO' Daily Users Drop by 80 Percent
Almost a year has passed since the mobile game "Pokémon GO" was launch across the globe, and at the time of its release, it was all the rage and became a worldwide phenomenon.
Although Niantic's "Pokémon GO" still has a fairly strong following and support at present, it seems to have taken a huge hit in terms of its player count. The game's daily users reportedly dropped roughly by 80 percent, its peak count of 28.5 million users back in July 2016 having plummeted down to 5 million by the end of 2016.
According to a new report from American global media measurement and analytics company comScore, "Pokémon GO" reached its highest figures of daily user count soon after the game was launched on July 6, 2016. However, since then, the number of daily users have continued to decline until it leveled out around October 2016. There were several spikes in user traffic due to the game's special offerings and events, but the numbers came nowhere near the title's peak figures in the fall of last year.
When "Pokémon GO" was released, it became the biggest mobile game, ousting long-time favorites like "Candy Crush" and "Clash of Clans" and earning $200 million in revenue worldwide in its first month alone. And even though the game's daily user count has significantly dropped, the game is still quite popular among those who still play it regularly.
In fact, the game title recently became the top ranked app on the Apple App Store in the United States once again after Niantic released the Generation 2 update.
According to GameRant, one of the reasons the game's daily user count has plummeted since its launch could be the lack of substantial updates that would give players what they want, such as a trading feature which will allow Trainers to swap Pokémon with other fans around the world. In addition, gamers have reported connectivity issues, problems with Gym battles and login issues as well.
"Pokémon GO" is currently available for iOS and Android devices.
