'Pokémon GO' Shiny Magikarp: Gamers Can Still Catch Golden Magikarp

After almost a year of clamoring from the fans of "Pokémon GO," Niantic finally included the rare shiny Magikarp during the mobile game's Water Festival event. Though the event itself has officially concluded, the shiny Pokémon will be sticking around, much to the delight of many "Pokémon GO" gamers.

Niantic recently confirmed via Twitter that the rare golden Magikarp will continue to spawn in "Pokémon Go," and will be available in the mobile game beyond the conclusion of the Water Festival.

At the moment, it remains uncertain how long the rare golden Magikarp will be a part of "Pokémon GO," or if it will be permanently featured in the mobile game. Nevertheless, Niantic's announcement remains to be good news for some players, since there are still a lot of them who have yet to get a hold of the shiny golden fish.

According to Forbes, if the golden Magikarp, as well as the red Gyarados, permanently becomes a part of the mobile game going forward, gamers and fans should also expect that more shiny Pokémon will be introduced into the current mix of pocket monsters featured in "Pokémon GO."

Magikarp is considered by some to be among the least desirable Pokémon, but the creature also proved to be a very popular one during the Water Festival. During the special event, "Pokémon GO" players willingly searched for and captured more than 500 million Magikarp.

During the Water Festival, catching the shiny Magikarp was difficult because its spawn rate was rare. Since Niantic has not responded to requests for the spawn rate of the shiny Magikarp to be changed, so that they might appear more frequently in the game in the future, "Pokémon GO" players should expect that the spawn rate of this creature will continue to be rare and that the shiny Magikarp will be very difficult to spot.

"Pokémon GO" is currently available on Android and iOS devices.
