Porsche Design Book One Release Date, Specs, Price News: Premium 2-in-1 Laptop to Compete With Surface Book This April
Porsche is usually synonymous to luxury sports cars but its subsidiary, Porsche Design, actually dabbles in the consumer market with premium products like watches, eyewear, accessories and smartphones. Now, the company has added another product category to its portfolio with the introduction of Book One — a multifunctional two-in-one laptop that is bound to give Microsoft's Surface Book a run for its money.
The Porsche Design Book One is touted as the world's first convertible and detachable two-in-one device. Aside from the traditional laptop mode, the Book One has a patented VarioGear hinge that allows it to rotate 360 degrees. Furthermore, the display can also be detached and used as a tablet.
The premium laptop features a 13.3-inch Quad HD display with a resolution of 3,200 x 1,800 pixels and pixel density of 276 pixels per inch (ppi). It is housed in an aluminum chassis with a matte anodized finish. Meanwhile, the display has a borderless design for an immersive viewing experience. There is also Gorilla Glass 4, anti-fingerprint and anti-reflection coating for added protection.
The Book One is powered by the seventh-generation Intel Core i7-7500U processor with Intel HD Graphics 620. There is 16 GB of random-access memory (RAM) and 512 GB of solid-state drive (SSD) memory.
The device comes preinstalled with the Windows 10 Pro operating system. The Book One comes with a digital stylus that can be used to write on the display via Windows Ink. The two-in-one laptop also provides users with security through the 5-megapixel camera with an infrared sensor that is compatible with Windows Hello facial recognition.
Other notable features include a full-size keyboard with dimmable backlight and a precision touchpad. Connectivity-wise, there are two USB Type-C ports, two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 3.1 Type-C with Thunderbolt 3 port. There is also Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
The tablet unit as a 25-Wh battery while the keyboard dock is equipped with a 45 Wh-battery. Together, the 70-Wh battery capacity provides up to 14 hours of use on a single charge. The device can be fully charged in less than two hours.
The Porsche Design Book One two-in-one laptop is now available to preorder at Newegg for $2,495. It is scheduled to arrive in April.
