'Power Rangers' reboot cast, news, spoilers: Closer to childhood memories as an old villain might be introduced

It's surely going to be a good day for 90s kids to hear "Morphine time" from their favorite group once again. Recently, cast descriptions have been finally revealed, but no news yet on the actors who will play each of the heroic 5.

Heroic Hollywood reveals that no official cast has been set to play the Power Rangers yet. Lionsgate, the studio responsible for the reboot, aims to choose unknown actors in their late teans to lead the movie. Although some have tried to pitch in which actors they think would be great for the roles of each Ranger, it seems that the general consensus is to get newcomers. Casting in a reboot of a big franchise, such as the Power Rangers, can ultimately affect how the audience will accept the film. Established actors may already have their own fan base in their previous characters and this might discourage viewers to digest them in any other roles.

Another news from Heroic Hollywood claims the appearance of the main antagonist in the series, Rita Repulsa. She is described to be "A huntress. A striking, yet subtly alien-looking woman. She carries a metallic staff topped with a distinctive crescent shape. Advances with a soldier's confidence, guided by some sort of compass... Her staff is actually a device of immense power. She points it at the ground. Heads emerge, built layer upon layer like 3D printing, made from the earth itself... The staff's technology grants her the ability to create humanoid figures, soulless, and robotic."

Her character is set to be part of the rumored plot of the film that will open with Rita fighting the Power Rangers during the cretaceous period. They defeat Rita by detonating a black hole that will ultimately send her to modern-day Russia. While on the other side of the world, the heroic 5, Zack, Billy Trini, Jason, and Kimberly, are shown living a normal life until Billy and Jason find a set of coins that is apparently what will give them their respective powers.

Many feel skeptic about the proposed theory of Heroic Hollywood, however, there isn't really any official word about the film yet. The only stable source as of now would be director Dean Israelite as he is quoted by Movie News Guide saying, "I read the script and was really surprised by it and thought there was a really cool, contemporary, mature but still playful, buoyant, and fun take on the material, and was updated in a really interesting way."

The reboot of "Power Rangers" is set to hit theaters on Jan. 13, 2017.
