It was revealed that Collins already had a hint of the transformation early one even though it was not yet explained by any of the producers. Upon finding out about the scene, he said he was honored to have the opportunity to take on the role.

He also explained that creating the mask was an interesting process. He had rubber lacquer poured over his head in order to produce a cast of his face. He explained that he was forced to sit with it for 20 minutes.

During his interview, he was asked if the executive producer of the series Marlene King shared anymore details about Elliot. He replied, "She has, but given the amount of backstory that's been left open after the finale, I think it's safe to say I don't know everything. But I did have a good chat with Marlene this week about Elliott, so I know more than I knew before."

Collins also spoke about what he is looking forward to in the upcoming season of "Pretty Little Liars." He said, "I hope that he will be able to play these two characters for a little bit; the only person who knows the truth is Mary. As to how quickly that's revealed to Alison and the other liars, I don't know."
