Prince George Birth Details Revealed by Royal Doctor Ahead of 1st Birthday

The doctor who delivered Prince George nearly one year ago has spoken up about what went on that fateful day. Sir Marcus Setchell has helped deliver several members of royalty and said that he chooses to see the royals as any normal, regular couple expecting a baby.

"You just keep reminding yourself that although it's very important, for the couple and the about-to-be-born baby, it's just another healthy young couple giving birth to a hopefully very healthy baby. And I constantly reminded myself of that so that the pressures of the hundreds of media people outside the hospital didn't affect me, at least not more than minimally," Setchell told BBC 4.

When asked if his presence was required at Prince George's birth, or whether he was just there as a precaution, he refused to comment, citing patient confidentiality. However, he did reveal that there were some situations that he may be called in to help with, Duchess Kate's delivery possibly one of them.

"I do think that there are certain situations when someone is giving birth that it's important not just to have a specialist sort of available at the end of a telephone, but actually in the same room to deal with anything that's immediately going to be wrong," Setchell said.

There are constant rumors that the Duke and Duchess will soon be expecting another royal baby, and Queen Elizabeth has apparently been preparing for that by ensuring that top doctors will be taking care of her family. Alan Farthing and Guy Thorpe-Beeston, who assisted with Prince George's birth, were both appointed Surgeons Gynecologist to the Royal Household.

"With Prince George's first birthday just around the corner, the latest gamble strongly indicates that he could soon be joined by a little brother or sister," spokeswoman Nicola McGeady told Express News. "In fact, there could even be double celebrations in the Windsor household next Tuesday."
