'Ray Donovan': New Faces to Join Show in Season 3
New cast members are joining "Ray Donovan" when the show premieres its third season on Showtime.
"Deadwood" alum Ian McShane will guest star on season 3 of the Showtime drama in a season-long arc, according to The Hollywood Reporter. McShane will be playing Andrew Finney, a prominent movie producer and billionaire who hires L.A.'s favorite fixer, Ray Donovan (Liev Schreiber), to get his family out of a potentially catastrophic situation.
Ray and Andrew end up forming a powerful relationship. The role marks a reunion for McShane and his "Deadwood" co-star, Paula Malcomson, who plays Abby, Ray's wife, on the show.
Meanwhile, Katie Holmes is also joining the series as Paige, the chic and intelligent businesswoman who also happens to be the daughter of Andrew Finney. The casting marks Holmes' latest TV foray. Last season, the actress booked a starring role in an untitled ABC pilot, playing an Audrey Hepburnesque character in a show about a pair of powerful New York socialites who play "Dangerous Liason"-type games with each other.
If the pilot moves forward, this will mark Holmes' first series regular role since her "Dawson's Creek" days. Recently, the actress took to Instagram to post a photo of herself with a headline about her joining the cast which she captioned, "So excited to join this amazing cast! @SHO_RayDonovan."
Jason Butler Harner is likewise joining season 3 of the show as Andrew's right hand man, Varick Strauss. Harner is currently recurring in Scandal as Olivia Pope's kidnapper.
It was previously reported that the third season of "Ray Donovan" will run for 12 episodes and began its production on Jan. 26 in Los Angeles. The show will continue without its creator, Ann Biderman, who stepped down as showrunner last August.
