'Ray Donovan' Season 4 Spoilers: Ray Is A Different Man Next Season

Last year was a blast for "Ray Donovan," and with the coming of a new season, it is expected that a more open-minded and basically changed Ray (Liv Schreiber) will be depicted.

Season 3's finale showed the world's favorite fixer shaken up and broken down. He had to go through a lot before walking out wounded, and obviously, a lot will change for him in the upcoming season.

Showrunner David Hollander said last year that season 4 will be digging deeper into Ray's past. This means he might have to go through the pains of everything that made him miserable. While he has to recall a lot of the painful memories, his journey toward finding himself again will open doors for new relationships and new situations.

Fans speculate that he might completely have to take Abby (Paula Malcomson) out of his new life. If this happens, it could mean that a pivotal line between Terry (Eddie Marsan) and Abby will be crossed, possibly causing Ray to make a decision about his relationships.

Also, there is a good chance Paige (Katie Holmes) will be back for the fourth season since Hollander said he is not the kind to let people go, unlike other showrunners. While Paige's involvement in Ray's life will have to be justified further, Hollander and his team aren't closing doors on the idea of giving Paige a relevant storyline that will make her character fit into the picture much better.

For those who prefer Paige over Abby, it might be too early to speculate that Paige will win Ray's heart, though twists happen in television so a Paige-Ray romantic storyline for season 4 could still be depicted.

As Hollander put it, the upcoming season will be full of emotional rides and journeys that will further strengthen the people's adoration for Ray and the rest of the characters despite their shortcomings.

There is no release date announced yet for season 4, but fans can expect that other details about the season will be unveiled bit by bit in the next few months or so.
