Razer Blade Release Date, Specs, Price News: 14-Inch Gaming Laptop Updated with 4K Touchscreen Display and Kaby Lake CPU

The Razer Blade is already a very capable gaming laptop but the latest update transforms it into a more alluring machine with Intel's seventh-generation central processing unit (CPU) and a 4K ultra-high-definition (UHD) touchscreen display.

The new Razer Blade maintains its 14-inch screen and still uses the same CNC-milled aluminum chassis. This enables the gaming laptop to retain an impressive thickness of just 0.70 inches despite being equipped with powerful components.

The Razer Blade (2017) is powered by an Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor based on the Kaby Lake microarchitecture, which enables higher frequencies. It has a 2.8 GHz base clock speed and 3.8 GHz Turbo Boost, making it about 200 MHz higher than the 2016 model's Intel Core i7-6700HQ.

There is still 16 GB of random-access memory (RAM) but the new iteration is equipped with DDR4-2400 which is much faster than the older version's DDR4-2133. Meanwhile, Razer is also offering more space with 1 TB of PCIe solid-state drive (SSD) memory. The latest version of the Razer Blade laptop uses the same NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics processing unit (GPU) with 6 GB of dedicated video RAM.

In terms of enhanced visual gaming experiences, the 4K UHD touchscreen display has a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels and pixel density of 314 pixels per inch (ppi). This translates to ultra-clear images, hyper-realistic sharpness and unrivaled color reproduction.

Pricing for the 4K UHD model has yet to be announced but for those who are looking for a more affordable option, the new Razer Blade is available with a Full HD display for $1,899. The standard version of the gaming laptop also comes with the aforementioned hardware upgrades. Furthermore, it is lighter and has a longer battery life compared to the high-end version.

Both variants are equipped with Razer Chroma anti-ghosting backlit keyboard which can be customized to create macros and lighting effects. It can also be synced to other Razer Chroma peripherals.
