'Real Housewives of New Jersey' Teresa Giudice Prison Reaction: Shocked With Her 15-Month Sentence

"The Real Housewives of New Jersey" star Teresa Giudice and her husband Joe Giudice spoke out about their sentence regarding conspiracy and fraud charges. The couple talked about their upcoming prison sentence with Andy Cohen Friday. Teresa for one finds the sentencing "unexpected."

"I mean, of course, I was shocked at the sentencing. You know, it was very unexpected. I don't even know what to say. I really don't know what to say," the 42-year old mother of four said.

The couple had pleaded guilty March earlier this year after admitting having to have hid assets from bankruptcy creditors and submitting false loan applications. Teresa had been sentenced to 15-months in prison while her husband was to serve 41-months in prison.

The couple, however, can serve their sentences consecutively with one parent in prison while the other stays behind at home to care for their children. The youngest of their children is five years old while the eldest is 13. Teresa was ordered to carry her sentence first and is due to report to prison on Jan. 5 next year.

The "Real Housewives" star claims that she was nervous before receiving her sentence that she was unable to open her hands at one point. "My nerves were shot. I've had sleepless nights," she says.

Cohen had asked Teresa if she had anything to say about her sentencing.

"It's time for me to wake up. I do need to read things before I sign them. I do need to understand things before I sign them," she admitted. "I'm a trustworthy person, and sometimes I just take what people say and I believe them and I trust them. And I can't do that anymore."
