'Reign' Season 3 Episode 3 Spoilers: Will It Be the End of King Francis?
"Reign" will bring fans to tears with its upcoming episode, which is entitled "Extreme Measures."
According to the Latin Post, the demise of King Francis (Toby Regbo) has been heavily hinted at the previews that were released, so it will not be a shock to many fans at all. Mary (Adelaide Kane) was seen crying for help on Francis' side when he collapsed in the middle of the stairs, in a scene from the next episode of 'Reign'.
Many of the viewers knew that Francis' death will most likely happen in the next episode, since his death has been written and told in many history books. Francis II died in 1544, and was only 16 years old.
The show's creator, Laurie McCarthy, said that they felt responsible to keep the plot close to history. During her interview with Entertainment Weekly, McCarthy promised that it will be a tragic love story. "His death allows you to tell a story that really honors their love and believe me, there will be tears. There'll be a lot of them, and I think there'll be also a lot of incredibly uplifting moments because it just deepens [Francis and Mary's] very existence, individually and together as a couple, and so we were really ready to tell that kind of a love story," she explained.
Although Francis' death is impending, the showrunner did not reveal how the royalty will exactly die. It might be the same as what is said in the books, an ear infection, but McCarthy hinted that his death will be "full of twists and turns." Loyal followers of the series can't wait to see what will happen tonight.
Side Reel released a synopsis of the upcoming episode, and the summary reads, "When King Antoine makes an unexpected return, Mary and Francis turn to an unlikely ally to help hide Francis' condition and secure his family's future."
