Rihanna Asks Donald Trump to Help Puerto Rico

Barbadian singer Rihanna sent U.S. President Donald Trump a series of tweets, asking him to send help to the Caribbean islands devastated by recent hurricanes.

In one of the messages Rihanna sent to Trump she attached a link of the cover page of The Daily News, which reads, "No food, no water, no power, no medical care for the dying. Puerto Rico needs more help, Mr. President."

In the tweet, she acknowledged that Trump may have already been made aware of it. Nevertheless, she wanted to be sure so she sent it herself. The Fenty Beauty creator emphasized, "Don't let your people die like this."

Puerto Rico was among the Caribbean islands battered by Hurricane Maria, a Category 4 storm, that left 16 people dead and over 3.4 million vulnerable.

Although 16 have been confirmed dead, reports say that the actual death toll could be higher than that. Investigative journalists have discovered that dead bodies are piling up in the morgues of Puerto Rico.

In another tweet, Rihanna sent Trump a link to a video message from a resident of Puerto Rico, wherein she gives a breakdown of the reality they all are facing in the island. Aside from the lack of basic necessities, hospitals sheltering the sick and the wounded are filled with patients but are operating without generators. Windows have been left open, leaving them unable to perform surgeries.

Due to the lack of essential facilities, there have been dozens of hurricane-related deaths. The fatalities could easily rise to the hundreds if residents continue to be deprived of the necessary medical services.

Rihanna might have been low-key shading Trump for the inefficiency in relief efforts. While she has been sending his twitter page with a series of updates on the Caribbean, the singer has not acknowledged his efforts. The singer only recognized the five former U.S. Presidents, who came together to help out hurricane victims, who more recently decided to expand their efforts to help Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
