Ronda Rousey News: Former UFC Champion to Start Taking 'SNL' Stage This Weekend

2015 wasn't such a sweet year for Ronda Rousey, and as she continues to recover from the painful loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193, she is also starting a new life in front of the cameras as she will start hosting "Saturday Night Live" tonight.

As everyone already knows, "Rowdy" has not really been out too much in public after the fight that people call the biggest upset in sports history. However, it seems the former champion is ready now to shine in the hosting industry.

According to Fox Sports, Rousey just couldn't say "No" to the offer when she received a call from executives for a hosting gig. Not too many names have been offered a slot in the show, and for the UFC icon to be included on the list of hosts is truly an honor, not to mention that she isn't doing much recently after her last bout.

Just like any other fighter who lost for the first time, she was obviously not in the mood for any offers, but she probably realized that it would be best to get her attention off the octagon for some time. "My initial reaction was like 'yes, let's do it.' I found out right after the fight and it was the first thing I was really thinking of doing besides eating ice cream and crying," she said.

While some other names in the sports industry have taken the "SNL" stage to the next level of fun, it is expected that Rousey's addition to the host list will surely be a treat to fans of the comedy show.

Rousey is hoping that her new stint will raise the colors of female athletes who aren't given much of the opportunities in Hollywood. She said it is definitely an honor to be called on for the hosting slot since she isn't just doing it for herself but also for other women fighters. "I just have to try to do my best job so they'll want more of us to come back," she said.

"Saturday Night Live" will air this weekend at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC, with Rousey taking the center stage alongside Selena Gomez.
