Russell Brand Reflects on His Marriage to Katy Perry

British comedian Russell Brand spoke out about the highs and lows of his short-lived marriage to Katy Perry, and he had nothing but nice words to say about the pop star.

On "The Wendy Williams Show," Brand talked about his two-year marriage with Perry. He said, "It's a bit difficult to tell what's going on in such a situation. But it was a very, very wonderful time."

He added, "She was lovely. She's such a lovely person I've got nothing but love for her."

The pair exchanged vows in 2010 in a traditional Indian ceremony. Two years after, Brand filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences."

Brand, who is currently married to Laura Gallacher, admitted to US Weekly that he has changed over the past five years. He says that he is now an easier person to be with compared to before. More importantly, he shared that he no longer projects his problems onto other people, confessing that he once used to do so.

In a book titled "Recovery: Freedom From Our Addictions," the comedian talks about his personal struggles through the years, including drugs, sex, and food. Brand hopes to encourage people to become conscious of their addictions and strive to overcome them.

Brand and Gallacher the knot in August. Nine months prior to this, they welcomed their first child, Mabel. "You know what we got now?" Brand told Williams. "A human baby. It came out of her (Gallacher). It's been nothing but demanding the moment it emerged."

The British-born stand-up has admitted that fatherhood has been crucial to his self-discovery. For a self-obsessed guy, he said, his daughter has made him realize that what he wants and needs does not matter, claiming that his daughter's needs and wants will always come first.

As a father, Brand hopes to encourage his daughter to speak openly about how she feels and about who she is.
