'Sam and Cat' Cancelled Due to Salary Dispute? Ariana Grande Thanks Fans for Support

Nickelodeon has decided to cancel "Sam and Cat" after only one season, leaving fans wanting more and wondering what went wrong. The show, which featured Ariana Grande and Jennette McCurdy, was quite popular and took home the Kids' Choice Award for Best TV Comedy.

There have been rumors that McCurdy was upset at the salary disparity between herself and Grande. McCurdy caused further speculation that all was not well behind the scenes when she did not appear at the Kids' Choice Awards with her co-star and tweeted about the situation.

"I wish I could explain everything as thoroughly as I would like to, but unfortunately a simpler explanation is all I can write. I was put in an uncomfortable, compromising, unfair situation (many of you have guessed what it is) and I had to look out for me," McCurdy tweeted to fans.

"The rumors circulating about our contracts and our salary not being equal are absolutely ridiculous and false," Grande tweeted in response. "Jennette and I agreed upfront that we would be treated equally on this show in all regards (as we should be, considering we each work just as hard as the other on this show). I don't know who's putting these idiotic quotes out there but I thought I'd straighten it out and try to end this nonsense."

The show was immensely popular, making it hard to believe that it was cancelled after only one season. Grande has since released her first single, "Break Free," which is expected to do well and keep her in the public eye. She tweeted to fans after the news of the show's cancellation was officially announced.

"I want to thank Nickelodeon for making a childhood dream of mine come true, for being a family to me, for being so accommodating and supporting of my multitasking with my music career, and for of course, introducing me to many of my fans however many years ago. Thank you for believing in me, accepting me, and loving me. I love you forever," Grande noted.

McCurdy has not addressed the cancellation yet.
