Sam Smith Reveals New Album Release Date, 2018 Tour Schedule

Sam Smith is officially back with new music after taking a two-year break from the limelight.

The British crooner is releasing a new album for his anticipated comeback, according to reports. On Friday, Smith announced that his second album is titled "The Thrill of It All" and it will be released on Nov. 3. The album cover shows a black-and-white close-up image of Smith's face, showing off his significant weight loss.

Over the weekend, Smith appeared as the musical guest on "Saturday Night Live." He performed the album's first single, "Too Good at Goodbyes," and debuted a new track titled "Pray." To promote his new record, Smith revealed the first dates of his North American Tour next year.

Los Angeles Times notes that the tour, which is also named after the studio album, will kick off on June 18, 2018 in Toronto. It will be followed by a two-night concert on Aug. 28–29 before eventually concluding in Calgary on Sept. 13. Further details about Smith's upcoming tour can be found on his official website.

Smith dropped his first single "In the Lonely Hour" in 2014. It was one of the biggest hits of the decade, winning him four Grammy awards and selling over 12 million copies worldwide. He was even dubbed as the male version of fellow British singer Adele because of his successful record. After two years of being on tour, however, he felt that he had lost his creativity.

Speaking with Rolling Stone, the "Stay With Me" singer admitted that his journey during the past few years was not easy. "For the first two months, I really struggled," he shared. He would also go out drinking on most nights.

Smith added, "When you drink a lot, when you go out too much, the next day isn't so fun. And when you're really supersensitive and emotional, like I am, it's just not good for you."

The 25-year-old went on to say that he has since stopped partying to focus on his tour and his health. "It's about me starting to love myself again," he said, referring to his album. "I want to be on my A game."
