Samsung Galaxy A7: Specs, Features, Price

Samsung has unveiled its latest and thinnest smartphone to date—the Samsung Galaxy A7. At first glance, it looks more like an Apple device than it does a Samsung phone, as the gadget has curved edges and a metallic band, which are design elements found in the iPhone 5S.

"We strive to develop devices that appeal to a broad range of consumers and are ahead of the next social trend. Combining both a stunning metallic design and powerful performance, the Galaxy A7 is stylish while delivering superior user experience," said CEO of Samsung Electronics JK Shin.

The Galaxy A7 is the follow up to the A3 and A5 and is touted by the Korean company as "one of the slimmest Galaxy smartphones," which is certainly is at 6.3mm wide and 141 grams. The phone will be available in Midnight Black, Pearl White, and Champagne Gold.

The screen is a 5.5-inch full HD AMOLED display, and the phone is powered by combined 1.8GHz quad core and 1.3GHz quad core processors, 16GB of memory, and 2GB of RAM. The device will run on the Android 4.4.

The phone comes with a security feature called private mode, which enables the user to lock important or confidential files and documents.

The phone is equipped with a 5MP front-facing camera with selfie features such as Ultra Wide Shot and Auto Selfie modes, so it's possible to take a photo with a voice command or with a wave of a hand. The rear-facing 13MP camera comes with autofocus and LED flash.

There's no word yet on price or availability, but it is expected to be somewhere in the range of the A3 and A5, placing it somewhere in the $600 range.
