Samsung Galaxy Book Release Date, Specs Rumors: New Windows 10 Tablet Teased by Windows Store App
Samsung is expected to introduce the Galaxy Tab S3 and Galaxy TabPro S2 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) next week but, according to the latest reports, the South Korean tech giant may also introduce a new Windows 10 tablet called the Galaxy Book.
Just recently, a new application from Samsung called Book Settings showed up in the Windows Store which seemingly hints at the existence of the Galaxy Book. The description for the application states:
"Install 'Book Settings' which includes Battery Life Extender, Screen mode, Pattern Log-in, User manual, and other Samsung features.

The application was first spotted by MSPowerUser and the publication added that the said device will have an active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) screen and active pen support. Based on these features, it's possible that the Galaxy Book will be a hybrid or convertible device just like the Lenovo Yoga Book or the Microsoft Surface Book. Unfortunately, no other details were revealed by the application.
It is interesting to note that Samsung actually has a trademark for the name "Samsung Galaxy Book." The tech giant filed for the trademark in September 2012 and it was registered two years later, on November 2014.
According to the trademark, the Galaxy Book is applicable for "tablet computers, MP3 players, mobile phones, and smartphones," among others.
Samsung has not said anything about the existence of the rumored Galaxy Book so information should be taken with a grain of salt.
However, a launch next week could still be possible as tech enthusiasts are already expecting Samsung's MWC 2017 presentation to focus on its next-generation tablets. The tech giant previously confirmed that its newest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S8, isn't slated to make an appearance at the annual trade show.
MWC 2017 is scheduled to take place in Barcelona, Spain from Feb. 27 to March 2.
