Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Rumors: New Device Might Be Unveiled in August

After a huge setback due to the Galaxy Note 7's exploding battery, Korean technology company Samsung is under pressure to step up its upcoming flagship device, the Galaxy Note 8.

The specs and features of the upcoming phone have not yet been officially revealed, but many speculate that Samsung will try to outdo the iPhone 8 with its rumored curved infinity display.

As for when it will be released, the company has not yet announced an official date but speculations estimate it will be unveiled around August 2017, following Samsung's tradition of launching its new flagship devices a month ahead of the iPhone's usual September release.

Aside from a curved display, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is expected to feature slim bezels or an almost no-bezel design and a fingerprint scanner. It is also speculated to do away with the home button in favor of a virtual one - much like the upcoming iPhone device.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will likely be powered by a SnapDragon 835, with 6GB of RAM and a storage capacity of up to 256GB.

Screen size is also assumed to be around 6.2 inches to 6.5 inches for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Plus variant, while the standard one could be around 5.7 inches.

Enthusiasts also expect the company to announce the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 around March or April.

For its part, Samsung vowed to rectify the recent battery issues that many users of its Galaxy Note 7 experienced. Many speculate that some people might be given a special discount when the Note 8 is released.

In a previous interview with CNET, Samsung mobile chief D.J. Koh vowed that the company will "bring back a better, safe, and very innovative Note 8."

In addition, the company is confident that despite the issues they encountered with the Note 7, they can still redeem themselves in the market. "We found through the investigative process, we knew there are lots and lots of loyal Note customers," Koh added.
