Samsung Gear S vs. Motorola Moto 360: Which Smartwatch is a Better Fit for You?

While the smartwatch has been around for quite some time now, the market competition has only been growing recently with the unveiling of new wrist devices. Aside from Samsung – who has been releasing the Gear line of smartwatches – Motorola, Apple, LG, and even Microsoft have gotten into the wearable device market.

With the growing competition for the smartwatch market, Samsung has upped its ante and came up with the Gear S to be released Nov. 7 later this month.

Motorola on the other hand, has a rough start with its own wearable, the Moto 360. Although it is distinct from the competition with its round-face type design, battery life problems and Android Wear issues had hurt its reputation as a next-generation smartwatch.

Comparing the Gear S with the Moto 360, there are stark differences design-wise but Samsung's experience with wearable tech already gives it an upper hand against Motorola.

The Moto 360 is distinct among the competition with its round-type face design, a take on the traditional design of normal wrist watches. The only other manufacturer with this kind of design is the LG G Watch R. The Gear S on the other hand still employs Samsung's square-type face design with a curved profile to ergonomically fit itself on the user's wrist.

The Moto 360 is 1.56-inches in diameter with a 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage and is run by a TI OMAP 3 chipset. One of the most prominent feature of the watch aside from its design is its wireless Qi charging capabilities.

The Gear S on the other hand has a 2.0-inch curved Super AMOLED display, the biggest among the curved wearables. It is powered by a dual-core 1.0GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage, and runs on a Tizen-based wearable platform – not Android Wear.
