One Step' Director Praises Sandara Park for Her Acting, Work Ethic
Korean filmmaker Jeon Jae Hong expressed his praise toward pop idol Sandara Park for her acting performance in the upcoming movie "One Step."
A press conference for the upcoming film was held on Tuesday, March 21, and was attended by the director and Park along with Han Jae Suk, Jo Dong In and Hong Ah Reum.
The director was asked about his experience working with Park, who will be playing the lead role in a Korean film for the very first time with "One Step." In response, he praised the actress, giving her high marks for her acting skills.
"I think she's the greatest rookie actress I've seen," Jeon said, according to Soompi. "Though she started her career as a singer, she always came with her lines perfectly memorized and she barely made any mistakes."
"In my opinion, I think she should keep acting over singing [if she had to choose one]," he added.
Park also opened up about her lead role in "One Step" and shared her difficulties in playing a character suffering from colored-hearing synesthesia.
In order to bring out the best performance she could do, the actress revealed, "I talked with the director a lot [about my character] and thought a lot about how I should portray her. Though the fact that I've been a singer for so long helped ease the way, I had to work twice as hard to do my character justice."
"One Step" follows the story of a young woman (Park) who forgets her past and a composer (Han) who finds himself unable to write songs anymore. To gain all that they've lost, they will embark on a journey of exploration through music.
To promote her upcoming film, recent reports suggest that Park, along with her co-star Han, will be making a guest appearance on an upcoming episode of the popular Korean variety show "Running Man."
"One Step" is scheduled to hit theaters in South Korea on April 6. An official trailer of the movie can be viewed here.
