Scary Clown Appears at 'It' Screening; Police Warns Film Might Spark Another 'Killer Clown' Phase

A scary clown appeared at a screening of "It" in England. Meanwhile, police authorities are wary that another "killer clown" phase will begin because of the horror film.

At the screening of "It" in England last Saturday, Sept. 9, Twitter user @HG_Hohbes was first to arrive at the cinema and found a creepy clown holding a red balloon sitting in one of the seats.

"Went to see 'IT,' I'm first in the screen and this fucking guy's just sitting there," his post reads.

The Twitter user didn't take the scary clown seriously and decided to stay in the cinema to watch the movie he came to see. Then, the clown decided to take his scare tactics up a level.

The creepy clown with the red balloon started wandering around the cinema, as seen from the photo. However, @HG_Hohbes still wasn't frightened by the creepy clown's efforts and even decided to strike a conversation with him.

"Had a chat to him, he's actually alright," said @HG_Hohbes.

Another person, Twitter user @Jordan1Gunner, also saw the creepy clown roaming around the mall with his red balloon.

"Imagine being about to walk up the escalator and seeing this," his post reads.

Soon enough someone came forward and confessed that the creepy clown in the cinema was only a prank.

Twitter user @scorpiho shared a photo of the creepy clown up close along with the caption, "This is my cinema! His name is Jordan and I did his makeup yesterday," in response to @HG_Hohbes photo from the screening.

Many were probably relieved to find out that the creepy clown they saw roaming around the cinema and at the mall was just a prank in time for the screening of "It.

However, police authorities are worried that the film — which revolves around a demon that takes on the form of Pennywise the clown — will spark another "killer clown" phase in the United States (U.S.) and the United Kingdom (U.K.), similar to what happened last year.

The Pennsylvania State Police department announced, "It is anticipated that 'creepy clown' sightings could be reported starting as soon as September, in part due to the fact that the movie 'It' will be released in theatres," Digital Spy confirmed.
