Sean Combs Announces New Name, Claims He's Joking Afterwards

Mogul Sean Combs, more popularly known as Puffy, Diddy, Puff Daddy, or P Diddy, announced over the weekend that he is going to have a new name. According to him, he will no longer answer to Puffy, Diddy, Puff Daddy or any of his other "monickers" because his new name is now "Love a.k.a. Brother Love."

On his birthday on Sunday, the American singer, rapper, and songwriter posted a video on Twitter where he made the big announcement about his new name. According to him, he had decided to change his name again after praying about it.

"I have some very, very serious news. I been praying on this and I decided—I know it's risky because it could come off as corny to some people. I decided to change my name again," he said in his introduction. He explained that he felt like a different person to any of the people designated in his lengthy list of titles, including Puffy, Diddy, and Puff Daddy.

Combs went on to say that he's no longer the person he was before. "I'm something different, so my new name is Love a.k.a. Brother Love," he said. "I will not be answering to Puffy, Diddy, Puff Daddy or any of my other monickers but Love or Brother Love," he added.

Since making the announcement, Combs' new screen name has created buzz online, with some wondering if his announcement was even true. On Monday, however, he posted another video on his official Instagram account, saying that what he said in the video he posted over the weekend was not true.

Combs said he was only joking when he said he's changing his name to "Brother Love." "I didn't change my name. It was just part of one of my alter egos. One of my alter egos is Love," he said.
