Shemar Moore Returns to 'Young and the Restless' for Guest Appearance
"Young and the Restless" fans have a new reason to watch their beloved show: Shemar Moore is returning to his roots on the series for a special guest-starring role. Moore's character, Malcolm Winters, will return to Genoa City to make amends with his family.
Moore starred on the series from 1994-2002 but left the show for two years before returning for 2004-2005. His role as Malcolm Winters won him a Daytime Emmy for supporting actor, and the series has been the top-rated daytime drama for 25 years. Moore has since gone on to star on "Criminal Minds," which is one of CBS' most popular drama series.
For two days in September, Moore will return to Genoa City to make amends with the family that he abandoned in 2005. The role was recast, and Darius McCrary took over playing Winters from 2009-2011. Now fans will get to see Moore back in the role he originated, and he'll be able to catch up with his co-star Kristoff St. John, who plays his on-screen brother, Neil Winters.
"I am excited about returning to 'The Young and the Restless' as a special guest," Moore said in an official statement. "This is where I got my start and I am looking forward to reuniting with my soap opera family."
Fans are also excited about Moore's imminent return to Genoa City, even if it is only for two days.
"@shemarmoore back in September in 'the Young and the Restless' on @CBS! Good news from France! Thank you!" tweeted The-best-man-57.
"The internet almost shut down when this news was announced," "Young and Restless" also tweeted, showing just how popular the star is both in daytime and primetime series.
"THIS JUST IN: I'LL REUNITE W/ my #YR Crew after almost 10 YRS!!!!! #ShemarReturns2YR … Sept. 10 & 11," Moore himself tweeted.
Moore will be on "The Young and The Restless" on September 10 and 11; the series airs on CBS.
