'Sister Wives' News, Updates, Rumors: Still No News for Season 8; Kody Brown Reportedly Divorcing Robyn?
The fate of TLC's polygamist reality show "Sister Wives" still hangs in the balance as the network refuses to comment on its renewal or cancellation. This doesn't mean that drama has stopped with production, however. With the Brown family embroiled in yet another legal battle, Ecumenical News reported that Kody Brown is currently contemplating divorcing his only legal wife, Robyn!
Court appeal
It's been previously reported that the show is in limbo mainly because of Kody Brown's desire to take two more wives. This obviously did not sit well with Robyn and his "spiritual wives" Meri, Janelle and Christine, who have all allegedly threatened to quit "Sister Wives" should he decide to go that route.
Allegedly to appease his wives and keep the show intact, Kody Brown and family had submitted an appeal to the Utah Courts to legalize polygamy. According to Yahoo! News, the "Sister Wives" stars urged the courts to review a provision in the Utah law that prohibits living with other partners if they are already married.
Religious freedom for the Browns
According to the family lawyer, Jonathan Turney, the decision to appeal stemmed from the family's desire to uphold the sanctity of religious freedom, especially for polygamist families such as the Browns. The "Sister Wives" stars lamented that they have been unduly subjected to "government abuse" following the debut of their show in 2010.
Fans would recall that "Sister Wives" focused mainly on Kody Brown and his three wives and multiple children, and how their polygamist lifestyle works in their everyday routine. Since their show began, however, the family reported that police authorities were suddenly looking into their household, forcing them to leave Lehi, Utah for Las Vegas, Nevada in 2011.
Keeping "Sister Wives" intact
Understandably, however, there would be no "Sister Wives" show without the other wives, so Kody Brown is reportedly trying to appease his wives. Reports said the reason for this sudden disgust for taking on new wives was because one of them was a relative of Christine, which the family thought was taking things too far, Ecumenical News reported.
But this aversion was nowhere near as strong as "Sister Wives" star Robyn's, Kody's only legal wife, Hollywood Life reported. According to Kendra Pollard, the Browns' family friend, Robyn had threatened to leave, saying this "isn't what she signed up for."
With this much in tow, looks like the Brown family brings so much baggage to TLC's table. Will "Sister Wives" Season 8 happen? Tune in for more "Sister Wives" updates!
