'Sister Wives' Season 8 Rumors, News & Updates: If Cancelled, Will Show Get Possible Spinoff Series?
TLC's polygamist reality television series "Sister Wives" has yet to be renewed for Season 8 amid the Brown family's ongoing legal problems. Numerous reports speculated on its eventual cancellation, and pinned it on Kody Brown's desire to take two more wives apart. This in turn reportedly caused his legal wife, Robyn, and his three "spiritual" spouses Meri, Christine and Janelle to threaten to leave him and "Sister Wives" if he decided to push through with his plans.
But fans of "Sister Wives" need not fret, because historically, TLC's cancelled reality tv series get spinoffs. Such was the case for "19 Kids and Counting" series, which was axed by TLC following Josh Duggar's confession to sexual abuse of his own siblings. Despite the harrowing news, the show still had a strong following, which led to the new spinoff series, "Counting On."
Possible spinoff series?
If ever "Sister Wives" Season 8 fails to make TLC's cut, the show is definitely popular enough for a spinoff series. The Inquisitr took particular note of Mykelti Brown's fans, who have been eagerly waiting for her wedding in Utah. She's set to marry Tony Padron, her longtime boyfriend, who had proposed to her during a waterfall hike.
In an interview, Mykelti Brown had expressed her excitement over the upcoming marriage, and already looked forward to her winter wedding. Unlike her "Sister Wives" costars, she said she looked forward to a monogamous life with her husband-to-be. No signs yet whether she will change her mind about that, but it looks like Kody Brown's daughter is currently set on the idea of a traditional marriage.
'Strive with Janelle'
Meanwhile, Janelle Brown, one of Kody Brown's wives, had also expressed her interest in jumpstarting her new fitness journey, "Strive with Janelle." The "Sister Wives" star had been struggling with weight loss for much of the TLC reality show, and the new program will definitely help her "get in shape to get in shape."
What the Brown family is currently up to
It certainly looks like the stars of "Sister Wives" have begun to go off their separate ways as they await news of their renewal. But apart from their individual journeys, the Brown family is currently going through yet another legal battle, as they appealed the Supreme Court to review a provision in the Utah Law that not only criminalizes polygamy, but also cohabiting with other partners if they were already married.
For now, it seems that the fans of "Sister Wives" can do nothing but wait for TLC's official go signal. Stay tuned for more updates!
