Sofia Vergara News: Actress Sues Beauty Company for Wrongful Use of Her Images
Sofia Vergara is no joke — at least that's what Venus Concept discovered after the actress filed a lawsuit demanding that she be paid $15 million for wrongful use of her images.
Vergara's hard feelings started two years back when she received skin tightening treatment from the company. Multiple outlets report that she shared the photo on Instagram with almost 40k people sending their approval.
According to U.S. Weekly, the actress discovered that the beauty company has been using her images and name for their advertisements without her permission. Court documents reportedly state that the company used blown-up photos of the actress in various events such as trade shows and exhibition booths, and she has not received a penny for the endorsements.
An insider said, "Sofia personally prides herself on believing in what she sells and she talks about it genuinely. For someone to just slap her face and image on something that she doesn't even like, she just feels like she's cheating her fans."
An interesting thing about the lawsuit is Vergara's appearance at the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards. She allegedly received the treatment before heading off to the red carpet.
TMZ further reports that the company used her images on its website with captions such as "Loved by...bombshell actress Sofia Vergara." What's interesting is Vergara claimed she is getting paid $15 million for similar endorsements.
Other reports state that Vergara is also asking that the company remove all of her images from its website. This also means Venus can no longer keep using her alleged photos during its advertising events or similar purposes.
Despite the fact that she received thousands of likes for posting the photo, it turns out she didn't like the treatment and it was reportedly "a waste of time and money with little in the way of any results." Anyhow, she was spotted glamorous during the August 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards.
