Sony Xperia M5 Release Date, Specs & Update: Available Now For Pre-Order, Includes 5-Inch Display, 21.5MP Camera

Japanese tech company Sony is all set to bring to its fans the successor of the Xperia M4. According to Tech Advisor, the Sony Xperia M5 is now available for pre-order. The device was announced back in August 2015 and was rumored to be released sometime mid-year. But it seems like Sony has changed its plans as the upcoming handset is said to be available in early February.

As noted in Realty Today, the Sony Xperia M5 is under the "super mid-range" tier of Android phones. It comes with a 5-inch full HD display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. And since the handset is a more streamlined device, Sony has replaced the Qualcomm chipset, as reported in Business Day Live. The Sony Xperia M5 now comes with Mediatek's MWC 2015-announced Helio X10 octa-core processor. It is clocked at 2.0 GHz and goes along with a 16 GB internal storage and 3 GB of RAM.

The highlight of the device though is its camera feature. As always, Sony has made sure to put effort into the quality of their camera. The Xperia M5 comes with a 13-megapixel front-facing camera with Sony's Exmor RS sensor. It is perfect for taking selfies and comes along with filter options.

Meanwhile, at the back, one will find a 21.5-megapixel Exmor RS sensor with hybrid autofocus. It also comes with f/2.2 lens and fast autofocusing (0.2 seconds). It also has the capability of providing 5x digital zoom without ruining the quality and 4K video recording. Moreover, it has an autoscene recognition with 52 different scenarios.

The new device under the M series is also water- and dust-proof, with an IP rating of 68. It also comes with 2600 mAh battery that will allow the smartphone to last up to two days. It claims to offer eight hours of full HD video, 12 hours of talk time and 63 hours of music play.

The Sony Xperia M5 is estimated to cost around $400 and will come in black, gold and white.
