Spotify iMessage App Lets Users Share Music
The new Spotify iMessage application allows its users to send and receive songs within an active conversation, without having to exit the chat screen.
"Spotify's iMessage app is available now, allowing users to quickly search for and share music with friends directly from iMessage," the company said of their new app. "It's the latest way in which we're empowering users to share music with friends in a fast and fun way."
To use such a feature, tech enthusiasts must have the latest version of the streaming service installed on their devices. In addition, the iMessage app must be activated. As easy as that, they can then send and receive text messages among their contacts.
To send a song to someone, a user must activate the app. In iMessage, a Spotify icon will appear, that is, if they have the latest version installed. This will allow users to browse through a full-library of songs, unlike the Apple Music iMessage app which only presents the list of recently listened tracks.
From the roster, users will have to find the track that they want to share and then tap the title. This will lead to an attachment of a preview of the record within the iMessage chat screen, sort of like how sharing of songs are made through the main app.
On the other hand, unlike sharing tracks from the main app to iMessage, which only takes users to the Spotify app itself or its web page, the exchange through Spoitfy iMessage will give recipients a full-screen preview of the song.
For those at the receiving end, a 30-minute preview of the song should show up on iMessage. Hence, one will not have to close the conversation. Also, they can choose to click a button that will play the track on Spotify.
Spotify's iMessage is now available for download.
